Michigan Log Cabin Day 2013

27th annual Michigan Log Cabin Day
June 30th 2013

Ypsirustica, The Ypsilanti Log Cabin
1318 E. Forest Ave.

Please remember this is a year around private family residence. We welcome visitors during the open hours!
We would love to show you our beautiful home! Ypsirustica features both a traditional Log cabin style as well as
modern, basically unheard of creative touches.

Purchased October 12th 2012 by the blended Shankwiler - Ratezyk - Tafini family, The year around log cabin home is in the process of being both restored and updated. The style of the Log Cabin, built in 1935 by a bee keeper has been questioned and we welcome your comments and suggestions!

The log cabin was covered up by siding 40-50 years ago and basically forgotten about until it was purchased by the family and "peeled" of the not so attractive asphalt siding. Once uncovered the home revealed a true beauty of logs and time forgotten chinking! There were large gouges made into the logs to accommodate the siding, the corners of the cabin were also cut away, and so much spray foam was used, they could almost consider it a building material!

We invite you to join us and spend a day at the cabin to enjoy each others company, fun games, good food and drink and artistic outlets.
